Finishing Well - Two Exercises to Help You Reflect on 2017
Reflection exercises are my jam. I love them. I love taking time out of every day, month and year to consider what's old, what's new and what needs to change. For 2017, I completed two exercises, each of which asked good questions, allowed room for meditation and gave some structure to what I already felt like God was saying to me about the year behind and the year ahead. Carve out some time to work through them, if this is your sort of thing. Let me know how they go for you!
1. The Great Annual Examen / The prayer of examen was created by St. Ignatius of Loyola as a daily practice of noting where God's presence was felt during a day and where God's absence was felt. These bloggers adapted the exercise to be for an entire year and allows room for reflection on five different life areas. It took me about 45 minutes to complete.
2. Hello, Goodbye from Lead Stories / I love Lead Stories, and their resources are simple and effective. While this resource isn't free (it costs $3.00 and is digitally downloaded) it is a prayerful and helpful follow-up to the Examen. This exercise took me about 30 minutes to complete.
Like I mentioned above, these two exercises gave me so much clarity! I hope they do the same for you.
Much love & keep flourishing,
